We have had a message from Thames Water's Access, Recreation and Nature Reserves Manager. She tells us that:
The upgrade of the path is nearly complete but the contractors have hit a bit of an issue in terms of materials. The granite fines that are required to finish the wearing course on the last 150 meters are currently unavailable. This means that the work cannot continue along the final stretch. The contractors are working behind the scenes to see if they can source the material from elsewhere, but with Tarmac being the main supplier in these parts this is proving to be tricky.
The site has been left neat and tidy, closed off with the compound secure, ready to be remobilised as soon as materials are delivered.
We are promised a further update once Thames Water has news from the contractor.
