We have been told by Ealing Council that Boles Bridge across the River Brent close to Brent Lodge Park needs to be replaced and is not expected to reopen before mid 2024.
The bridge has been closed as shown by the image below. The obvious alternative path leading straight ahead across the golf course on the other side of the Brent has also been fenced off.
At the moment it is possible to get round the fencing because the locals have made a hole in it. This may well not be possible for long and is against the advice of the council.
You are advised to retrace your steps to the church and then walk about 350 metres along Church Road to find a public footpath/cycle path (High Lane) by the side of 8 Madge Hill. It is a pleasant path and eventually leads out onto High Lane road. Continue past a children's playground and then take a path on the left past Mayfields school which bends left to rejoin the Capital Ring route. Note that just before the bridge you need to turn right towards Bittens Fields and Greenford (the CR sign on the bridge is leading back to Brent Lodge Park).
