There is a short length of section 5 that runs along Hayes Lane (at the end of Golf Rd) as describe in the last but one paragraph of our walk guidance for the section.
Hayes Lane is narrow and has no pavement. Here is a suggested alternative to avoid the road walking.
On reaching the end of Golf Road, go straight across Hayes Lane and enter the wooded area on a path next to the red pillar box. This soon turns to the right and takes the walker on a mazy route through the trees joining up with the main path at the rear of the Hayes Lane houses. Turn left here towards Betts Mead.
