• Route: London Loop
  • Section#: 11

As previous news items have shownLL11 Little Britain flooding 2, the London Loop route near Little Britain Lake is frequently affected by flooding.

On Sunday 2 February a walker found that the way ahead was completely impassable because of extensive flooding as her dramatic images show.

End of February update

We have had another report about the situation at Little Britain Lake. This walker writes: "There is still some flooding at Little Britain Lake.  In particular there is flooding just after the bridge over the Colne River where the path turns right.  The flooding probably blocked the path for about 20 yards.  Luckily we had Alltrails and the OS map so we were able to divert.  Our diversion took us left once over the bridge and then along Ford Lane to where we could turn right along a footpath just before Huntsmoor Park Farm.  Alltrails calls this the Colne Valley footpath.  This connected us back onto the river path.  South from the point where we rejoined the river path was a little more flooding which we probably could have waded through with our walking boots on but we were glad we didn't have to.   Another walker we met who had waded through both flooded sections said the path in between was passable. (Note that the suggested diversion is one of the options suggested in the latest version of our walk guidance for this section.)
