We are now told that the issue described below has been fixed. A walker who crossed the bridge in mid-February noted that Railtrack have reinforced all the steps, not just the broken one, so the problem should not recur.
...........................
We have been alerted to a problem that has been reported on FixMyStreet describing a missing step on a footbridge used by section 2 of the London Loop, near Petts Wood.
There are pictures showing the damage with the FixMyStreet report.
Some walkers may be able to surmount the problem, but for others the person who told us about the issue suggests that the best temporary alternative route is to cross under the railway line to Towncourt Crescent and then use the footbridge which links Petts Wood Road and Frankswood Avenue. For the start of this diversion, see the path under the railway from the sharp turn at the bottom of the pre-2025 route shown by the map on page 8 of our walk guidance for this section.
