LL02 Kyd Brook old bridgeThe National Trust's area ranger for the Petts Wood & Hawkwood Estate has let us know that an old bridge over the Kyd Brook is to be replaced next week. This means that the path over the bridge will be closed from Monday 17 to Friday 21 August.

The bridge over the brook comes just before the Loop route crosses the railways lines on a series of bridges. This part of the route is described in the last but one paragraph on page 9 of our walk guidance for this section

While this section of the path is closed, walkers can keep ahead on the old route after passing the Edlmann Memorial as shown on our map on page 8. Then, where the old route turned right,  continue straight on to use the underpass under the railway lines. This leads directly to Hazelmere Road. Turn left, then right to carry on along  Towncourt Crescent. Turn left at the end of the Crescent to reach Station Square and hence the rail station.

People walking the Loop anticlockwise (that is in the opposite direciton to our walk guidance) should not to continue onto Section 2 from Jubilee Park. Instead they should  follow the link to Petts Wood station and join the route by the Edlmann Memorial in Petts Wood via the underpass under the railway.
