In August 2023 we published a report that Boles Bridge was closed because it was in a dangerous condition. At that time we were not expecting the bridge to reopen until mid 2024.
However our volunteers report that in May 2026 the bridge is open and being used as usual. The repairs have not been done yet. Our understanding is that the Council has budgeted to replace the bridge but no date has been fixed. So for the time being the bridge has been reopened and walkers can follow the official route as described on page 6 of our walk guidance.
